Timothy Gurshin: Bio

I've been working at writing songs since I can remember trying to figure out how a radio worked. It is a never ending quest to catch magic.
For many years I have performed solo in New England, and also in Nashville at clubs such as The Bluebird Cafe and Gibson's, along the way opening for classic acoustic musicians such as Aztec Two-Step and Greg Brown.
My music has been used in documentaries, an instructional art video and has even won a rock song contest. "Slippin' Off To Somewhere" and "Mama Can You Tell Me" were featured on Chris Conn's nationally syndicated radio show. Most recently, I wrote and recorded the theme music for a documentary called Mayflowers, which tells the story of student demonstrations at the University of New Hampshire in 1970, shortly after the Kent State shootings.
My sound blends folk, rock, and a bit of blues and country, a/k/a Americana these days. Please give it a listen here in the "music" section. There's lots of audio, video and photos to check out-- and feel free to drop me a line.
I have released four albums on CD's, the most recent of which is 2010's "Songs Along The Highway." You can hear songs from all these recordings at the music and video pages of this site.
In addition to my own songs, my live shows feature my own arrangements of classic acoustic music. I hope you come on out for a listen soon. Just check the calendar page to see where I'll be performing next.
